Small animals like guinea pigs need plenty of space to relax, play, exercise and feel safe. Here at Andover Piggy Boarding your pet will enjoy clean spacious accommodation either in The Piggy Room Inn or in the Guinea Garden, always receiving the best possible care and attention throughout their holiday. To ensure that all guineas receive the maximum benefit from their environment, accommodation in the Piggy Room and the garden is allocated according to the number of guineas and length of stay.
The Piggy Room Inn
Guineas who are accustomed to being housed inside will enjoy roomy and luxurious accommodation in the 5 star Piggy Room Inn, a specially designed bespoke building with thermostatically controlled heating for extra comfort in winter. Located in a warm and pleasant part of the garden, The Piggy Room Inn is fitted with UV- protection double glazing, floor-to-ceiling/wall-to-wall insulation including underfloor and loft space, and two entrances which provide maximum natural light and airflow. The professionally designed combination of airflow and insulation stabilises your guineas' habitat and safeguards them against excessive heat or cold. Breathable barrier material throughout the building, together with environmentally friendly, animal safe waterproofing on the on the exterior, ensure that your guineas are completely free of draughts and damp regardless of what the weather is doing outside. Guineas remain cool and relaxed in the hottest of summers and cosily warm in the deepest of winters. Pampered piggies!

The Guinea Garden
Guineas who normally live outside will enjoy equally roomy accommodation in The Guinea Garden. As with the Piggy Room Inn, outdoor boarding facilities are light, bright, roomy and sturdy, insulated against heat and cold and are fully weatherproof, keeping your guinea pigs safe, comfortable and exercised in all weather conditions. Outside facilities are positioned in a secure and secluded area close to the house and are raised up so that guineas are able to see their surroundings and and have a proper gossip with their neighbours. Happy guineas!
All accommodation is kept clean, hygienic, and is thoroughly disinfected after each use. The double glazing and heating in the Piggy Room Inn, together with the insulation installed in all accommodation, ensures that your guineas are extra cosy and content in the winter, whilst the same insulation and additional shading keeps them cool and comfortable in the summer. Piggy paradise!
The rainbows (identical except for colour ) are both spacious and cosy (ideal for piggies who prefer to live in a cottage rather than a castle!) They are 4ft by 2ft, fully insulated and each one has its own specific run so that guineas recognise their own scent in both run and cage. All have crystal clear rain/wind covers so that they remain dry and comfortable but are still able to look out and watch the world go by till the rain stops. A rainbow is suitable for one single or two bonded guineas.
Inside a Rainbow A Rainbow Run
5ft by 2ft, Willow is a larger accommodation with an upstairs landing and window, and a cosy downstairs bedroom. Ideal for a bonded group of three, or perhaps a Mum and babies.
Upstairs in Willow accommodation ....
.... and back downstairs again.
Inside Willow run.
I'll just have a quick little snack up the top .....

And just to make extra sure that I'm definitely not hungry ....
A roomy 6ft by 2ft accommodation with a spacious upstairs landing and window. Perfect for larger groups of bonded guineas (three to five), or guineas who simply demand a posh bit upstairs.
As indeed do the three resident divas of Andover Piggy Boarding .....
Excuse me??!! .... This is a private function .........invitation only.........

He can't. He's eaten it.

Serves 'im right ...... should have read the instructions .....
That wasn't very nice either ...
Coral and Barleycorn
Suitable for three to four bonded guineas, these again are light, bright and spacious 6ft by 2ft accommodations. On one level only, they are perfect for those piggies who are not too keen on ramps, stairs or anything even remotely elevated and would much rather keep their feet firmly on the ground!
As ever, both are fully insulated, weatherproofed and rainproof for year-round comfort and protection.
Guineas are offered as much run time as possible (weather permitting) and are never left unattended when they are out on the grass. During peak seasons the main grazing area may need a couple of days to recover from mass nibbling and piggy 'watering' (urine burns). During these times guineas are fed hand picked grass from areas which have been kept piggy free for this reason. Runs are large, secure and sturdy, providing sunshine and shade, giving your pet plenty of fresh air and bags of room to enjoy it in. Each run has its own hideaway and tunnel for play, along with hay, water and dry food.
Runs are moved onto fresh grass after each use, and no area is re-used until it has been rinsed, cut and allowed to grow back again. Guineas become very confident in their own personal space; delicate negotiation has to be entered into with the guinea below .....
"As you can see, I'm busy enjoying myself so we will absolutely NOT be doing the claw-clipping thing right now. Are we clear on this?....
Guinea pigs, like all small rodent animals, need to eat constantly (even through the night) to keep their teeth and digestive systems in tip top condition. Andover Piggy Boarding will provide the best possible nutrition for you pets while you are away on holiday, ensuring that your guinea pigs remain healthy and happy throughout their stay.
Guineas are fed twice a day, once in the morning and again in the afternoon/early evening. Fresh vegetables are offered daily, with top quality Timothy hay, Meadow hay, freshly filtered water and dry food available at all times. All food, including dry food, is supplied by Andover Piggy Boarding; all you need to do is bring your piggies for a hassle-free handover! If your guineas do not eat Pets at Home nuggets or Wagg Crunch you will need to bring your own brand; please bring more than you think they will need as guineas have plenty of opportunity to exercise and socialise at Andover Piggy Boarding and their appetites increase accordingly!
Throughout the day all guineas are checked to ensure that they are behaving and moving normally, eating and drinking. Carefully selected fresh veggies are offered daily with different combinations for each meal to ensure that Vitamin C, oxalic acid and calcium/phosphorous ratios are balanced at healthy levels; the guineas enjoy a little bit of everything, but never too much of any one thing. Feeding in this way promotes natural foraging, prevents food boredom and has the added advantage of encouraging picky appetites. Guineas who profess to dislike bell peppers, for instance, just munch them up anyway if they're mixed in with everything else! (Very useful ....)
To avoid the potential risks of bladder stones or bloat (both serious conditions) mixed veggies are given in medium quantities - about half a large mug per piggy. If you normally feed significantly more than that at home, it is important to increase your guineas' intake slowly over a few days to allow their digestive systems time to re-adjust. Please note: I do not feed any type of lettuce, salad leaves, or foods which are subject to an RSPCA safety query eg green beans, runner beans etc.
Water is filtered to reduce calcium, given in clean drinking bottles and kept topped up at all times, with frequent changes for those piggies who like to indulge in the "blow it back up the spout" game! Drinking bowls are also available upon request as some guineas prefer their water one way, some the other way, and some both ways!
Pet-safe woodshavings provide the floor litter, and two types of feed-quality barley straw make up the bedding, which is fresh every night. Barley straw is soft, warm, absorbent, dust free and is specifically designed for small animals. Short-chopped goes underneath to create a soft mattress for the piggies to lie on, and long-chopped goes on the top for them to snuggle into.
